Project overview

The Park Hotel Vitznau is one of Switzerland's most renowned luxury hotels and is part of an exclusive hotel group comprising four hotel operations in total. The goal of the collaboration was to create a central digital platform for the entire group while simultaneously developing the Park Hotel Vitznau brand consistently across all relevant touchpoints.

Alongside the web presence, we also supported the hotel in the graphic design of selected analogue applications – always with the ambition of bringing tradition, quality and the spirit of the times into harmony.

The challenge

The hotel group operates several independent hotels with individual content, offerings and target audiences. At the same time, there was a desire for a central technical solution that enables efficient management of all websites and creates a unified data foundation.

Multidomain-Setup for a hotel group

The challenge was to develop a setup that:

  • unifies multiple domains within a single system
  • makes content centrally manageable
  • flexibly maps hotel-specific content
  • is future-proof and scalable
  • meets the highest standards of performance and stability

Consistent corporate identity with maximum flexibility

Although each hotel has its own identity, the belonging to the group should be clearly recognisable. The goal was therefore to develop a modular design system that feels consistent, yet can be individually adapted for each property.

The template was conceived in such a way that it can be used across all websites, while colours, imagery and content were specifically tailored to each individual hotel.

Our solution

We developed a central web platform with a multi-domain architecture, through which all hotel websites can be managed from a single backend. All content and data is stored centrally, while the individual websites are served individually.

A flexible design system ensures that all hotels present themselves in the same corporate identity style without losing their individuality.

The homepage as the central experience

The homepage of the Park Hotel Vitznau presented particular requirements. It needed to:

  • present summer and winter experiences equally and emotionally
  • offer clear entry points to the most important subpages
  • meaningfully combine inspiration and information
  • actively encourage bookings and increase conversions
  • generously showcase high-quality imagery
  • integrate social media channels
  • deliver compelling arguments for why Vitznau is the ideal holiday destination

The challenge: to create a homepage that inspires, guides and converts – without losing a sense of calm or elegance.

The homepage of the Park Hotel Vitznau was designed as a central experience that emotionally conveys the unique location on Lake Lucerne, provides orientation and enables high conversion. The lakeside setting is subtly reflected in the design: a custom-developed wave form runs through the page as a recurring design element, visually anchoring the location within the brand world.

A central feature is the season switch, which distinguishes between summer and winter experiences. The hero image, video and selected content automatically adapt to the chosen season, ensuring the homepage always stays relevant and showcases the full breadth of the offering throughout the year.

The booking button is deliberately central and permanently visible, complementing the scrolling menu bar and making the booking process simple and intuitive without disrupting the user experience. Generous areas for imagery and video give the high-quality visual world room to breathe, while a specially developed gallery presents content emotionally and whets the appetite for a stay.

A weather module displays the current conditions on site and suggests suitable activities, providing the page with dynamic, context-relevant content that offers guests real added value. Since events are an important part of the hotel's offering, a news and events slider prominently integrates current news and upcoming events on the homepage.

All modules are designed to be backend-friendly, easy to maintain and flexibly updatable via interfaces. The homepage logic that was developed was subsequently successfully adapted for the other hotels in the group.

Individual rooms as a digital experience

The room pages of the Park Hotel Vitznau presented another central challenge. The property features highly individual suites that are deliberately not divided into classic categories. Each suite follows its own theme and tells an individual story – from the architecture and materials through to the atmosphere.

To do justice to this uniqueness, we developed a structured overview page that provides orientation despite the diversity. A custom-designed filter enables users to grasp all relevant options at a glance and search specifically for suitable rooms.

At the same time, each room received its own detail page, conceived as a showcase. Here, the story, floor plan and imagery are presented generously, making the character of each room tangible even before booking. In this way, the uniqueness of the property is not only made visible, but becomes an integral part of the digital user experience.

Brand work beyond the web

Our collaboration with the Park Hotel Vitznau went beyond the digital presence. The goal was to make the brand consistently tangible across all relevant touchpoints.

Alongside the website, we also supported the property with selected print products such as brochures, the in-house magazine, as well as custom-developed illustrations for children's menus and the mission statement.

A central challenge was to translate the evolved character and exclusivity of the property into individually developed design elements. Rather than relying on standardised solutions, a visual language emerged that takes up the time-honoured ambition of the Park Hotel Vitznau and carries it forward with a contemporary, clear aesthetic.
